What is a Gi?

A gi (pronounced gee) is a sturdy cotton jacket and pants designed for grappling. The jacket is thick enough to grip, the pants flexible enough to move, and the whole thing is made to take a beating while you practice chokes, sweeps, and rolls. It’s comfortable, durable, and feels a little like a uniform you actually want to wear

What is gi jiu-jitsu?

Gi jiu-jitsu is Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practiced while wearing the traditional gi — a sturdy cotton jacket and pants. The gi adds an extra layer of strategy because you and your partner can grab, pull, and control the jacket and pants to execute chokes, sweeps, and submissions.

Training in the gi teaches precision, patience, and leverage — because every grip matters. It slows things down a bit compared to no-gi training, giving you time to think, plan, and learn the technical details of each move.

Gi jiu-jitsu is for anyone who wants to improve strength, flexibility, and mental focus — all while rolling safely with a partner in a controlled, fun, and challenging environment.

What is Nogi Jiu-jitsu?

No-gi jiu-jitsu is Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practiced without the traditional gi — just rash guards and shorts. Without the jacket to grab, the game speeds up and relies even more on body control, positioning, and quick, precise technique.

This style blends seamlessly with submission grappling, incorporating moves and strategies from wrestling, judo, and other grappling arts. Training no-gi helps you improve strength, agility, and reaction time while focusing on controlling your opponent and finishing with chokes or joint locks.

No-gi jiu-jitsu is fast, dynamic, and perfect for anyone who wants to challenge themselves, sharpen their grappling skills, and experience the tactical, flowing side of submission grappling.
